AST & Science to Expand Operations at Midland International Air & Space Port: New Facility to Create 50 Jobs and Bring $30 Million in Investment
Midland, Texas, April 21st, 2025 — The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) Board, along with the Midland City Council, has approved two agreements with AST & Science to further expand its operations at the Midland International Air and Space Port. AST & Science, which has been leasing MDC-owned property at 2901 Enterprise Lane, will now lease an additional MDC-owned facility at 2908 Enterprise Lane for a five-year term.
AST invites the media to join them on Wednesday, April 21, 2025 at the Midland Development Corporation Offices (200 N Loraine St #610, Midland, TX 79701) to participate in an announcement detailing the steps they will be taking to carry out this expansion.
The expansion in the new facility will house a radio frequency laboratory and support communications testing activities for AST’s innovative satellite-based cellular broadband network, designed to be accessible directly via smartphones from space.
As part of the agreements, AST & Science will:
Create and maintain 50 new jobs
Invest $30 million in personal property and inventory at the new facility
In return, AST will receive lease abatement from the Midland Development Corporation. This expansion builds on AST’s existing operation at 2901 Enterprise Lane, where the company has already created 200 jobs and invested $21 million in capital improvements.
